For those of us who are hockey fans, (perhaps more Leaf fans than hockey fans) this week is a crucial one for our mental health. We play the Flyers in back-to-back games, and even though we trail them by 8 pts, winning both will be a hugh boost to our overall psyche.
Now I had given up on the Leafs a while back, frustrated as all of us were with the lack of scoring and indifference in their effort, however deep down you always felt that they would come out of their slump and put on a run to safely put themselves into a playoff spot.
And perhaps because of that, I have fallen for this "tease" of another last minute run, which most likely will take us right up to the last weekend of the season again. This time it is out of their hands .. they will need the collapse of a few teams ahead of them and hope that there are no 3-pt games amongst their rivals going forward. And, oh did I mention that that Leafs will have to win 11 of their remaining 12 based on past point levels??
Bring on the pepto-bismol ...
